Sees the World Spinning Round

I'm still sticking with spin classes. I go about twice a week. Last night's was a tough one for me mentally and physically. I really need to learn my boundaries and how to not push myself so hard.

The Thursday night teacher has decided that I need to spin in the front row. The set up of our spin class is three rows of 10 bikes facing the teacher and mirrored wall. Usually only advanced students sit in the front row and I still don't feel like an advanced student. But Thursday is an off night for spinning and the class only fills half way most of the time. So I sat in the front row for the second time facing my own reflection of me working my rear off.

I have gotten so much better at mastering the form of spinning but my hips on the other hand do not always cooperate. I need to find the balance of dealing with the pressure to perform my best in the front row and knowing when to sit down after my hips lock up during a sprint "out-of the saddle."

I have a great capacity to push myself countered with a great capacity to be a couch potato (see the before photos on my profile) and I can easily go between the extremes. Currently I'm working towards a balance, since I'm a tv addict who loves hour-long dramas (nothing against reality and game shows but after working on several, I prefer to stay away from them. *wink*) So to balance out my nights, I've been attempting to do a workout video when I get home from work and then veg on the couch after in front of the tv.

So far so good.

have I told you that I've asked the DH if he would want to try spinning with me when I'm healed? Yup. I asked - and it was because of YOU. But of course he said no. [HUH][GLARE][ROLLEYES][TONGUE]

It's really intimidating! If you check out my SparkPeople page look at D710Dance's page, she's a spinner too. Maybe that will get him to go! [THUMBUP]

I've been also allowing myself to take nights off or weekends when I'm tired. Icertainly what to maintain and not burn out which is what I did two years ago. [WINK]

I have had this same exact issue of balance. What really helped me stay on track AND get in my Grey's, and Ugly Betty, and Dancing, and EVERY show I have to watch for work. Well, I just go to a gym where they have TV's and listen to them with my headphones. I swear THAT was the secret of my success. It makes sense why I wasn't as consistant during reruns. And, the workout goes by about 10 billion times faster, too.
